As the 2021 breeding season comes to a close, the team at Leneva Park are celebrating a job well done following our first year standing commercial stallions.
Stallion Operations Manager Brian Byrnes was thrilled with both the support of freshman sire Fierce Impact and second season sire Royal Meeting, and their performance across what became a busy season.
"We knew that Royal Meeting was a good worker, he's got a healthy libido and just loves his work. It's a good thing because when his foals started arriving, the phone really started to ring," Byrnes said.
"We were in new territory with Fierce Impact but he took to his new job like a duck to water. He was very popular - he'd have been one of the most popular first-season sires in Victoria. His fertility and lust for work was strong throughout the season, now we wait for his foals!"
With strong support from shareholders and breeders alike, both Fierce Impact and Royal meeting received strong books of good mares; Fierce Impact covered a very healthy 143 mares while Royal Meeting increased his book from 88 to 103 in 2021.
With COVID restrictions set to ease in 2022, we urge breeders to make contact with our nominations team to arrange an on-farm inspection of our stallions - it's never too early to plan your matings!
