Leneva Park November Update 2020

I hope you're enjoying the easing of restrictions and you've had success on the track during the Spring Racing Carnival Season. It’s great to be able to welcome visitors to the farm again. Over the past month, many of our horses have had wins after their pretraining or spelling stay with us. Our winners' list includes Ayahuasca and Kurabui, who both won their first up starts. Ayahuasca won her first start in Cranbourne, and Kurabui who had a win at Pakenham is featured in this newsletter. Under the watchful eye of trainer Lindsey Smith, The Ladies Man won at Kyneton, Corner Pocket had success in his last two starts at Moonee Valley and Hamilton, and Dee Keepa at Sandown.

At Warrnambool, Bella Tiara had a fantastic win, and three-year-old gelding, Fields of Roses has won his last two starts at Pakenham which no doubt is leaving smiles on the faces of his owners. Saint Eustace, trained by Mick Price made it first to the finish line in Sandown, as did Battlecruiser in Pakenham Park.

Zou Dancer appears to be following in the footsteps of her sire Zoustar with a win at Dunkeld. As well as success with Zou Dancer, Bennett Racing has also had success with both the Astrologist and Northeast Express. No doubt the winning streak with horses that come here to pretrain at Leneva Park will continue, given their calibre and the quality work of our team and trainers.

We hope you enjoy your horse updates and welcome you to call or visit our farm to see your horses and meet our team.

Warm Regards

Sarah

Kurabui's Debut Win

Leneva Park pretrained Kurabui kicked off her career with an easy win in the Gippsland Premium Quarries Maiden Plate (1400m) at Pakenham. She comes from a family of famous stars, being the daughter of Proisir, a Group 1 performer, and half-sister of Surprise Baby, who

started favourite in this year's Melbourne Cup. The pressure was on Kurabui and her relaxed nature took her all the way to the winners stall. When questioned about her on the track, track rider Joel Walton comments, "She's a really nice, athletic filly". Leneva Park Manager, Sarah Beaumont, has her eye on Karabui stating, "She's a strong filly and always a real pleasure to work with each morning. Mick and Jnr have clearly taken their time with her, and I feel that has been a masterstroke. She's one that will get better through this prep and next prep." Karabui is definitely a filly to watch over this season of racing.

Yearlings Prepare for Sales Season

Preparations have commenced for the 2021 yearling sales season as our Yearling Manager Jenny Saunders begins to shape our 2021 yearling draft. Jenny takes a steady hands on approach with our yearlings over a 12 week period, teaching them to accept a head collar, introducing them to barn life and boxes, teaching them how to walk, pose and be positioned for public inspections.

In 2021 Leneva Park will present yearlings for sale at the Inglis Melbourne Premier, Adelaide Magic Millions and Magic Millions June sales.

There is still time to book your yearling in under our banner. Mick Sharkie and the Leneva Park bloodstock team will also be active at all major yearling sales this season should you require their services for inspection. To discuss your yearling’s sales preparation, give Jenny a call on 0426968 020. To find out more about our presence at the sales, contact Mick on 0403 524 508

Mares Return To The Farm

As the end of the breeding season approaches and the next begins, we have welcomed home our mares that were sent for a cover in the Hunter Valley. This season we worked with Glastonbury Farm to care for our mares and foals at foot during their brief stay.

Glastonbury Broodmare Manager, Yvonne Clerke is extremely experienced and a horse lover at heart. It was a joy to work with her while our mares were away from home getting covered. This season Leneva Park welcomed foals by American Pharoah, Brazen Beau, Russian Revolution, Akeed Mofeed, Puissance De Lune, Trust In A Gust and Press Statement. We look forward to their development in 2021
