Our seven-horse Inglis Premier Sale draft have settled in perfectly to their new home at Oaklands Junction as inspections ramp up ahead of Victoria's best yearling sale.
Horses by proven sires Rubick, Star Turn, Headwater and Magnus join young sires Cable Bay and Russian Revolution in our draft, with a good spread of quality to suit every buyer.
"I suppose you could call it a changing of the guard draft for us, the first Leneva bred and raised stock will come through the 2022 sales, our Premier sale draft is made up on stock bred and raised by good clients keen to support our business," said Mick Sharkie, General Manager & Bloodstock Manager.
"We're always grateful for that support and our yearling team led by Jenny Saunders have turned these horses out in top condition and there are definitely a couple of standouts there."
Headlining the sale is Lot 88, a colt by Rubick out of the well bred mare I'm A Flying Star.
"He's a ripper colt, athletic with a good dose of power behind the saddle. He's got a great temperament and has been very popular at on-farm inspections," said Sharkie.
Lot 593, a colt by Headwater x Ellepin Gal is another eye-catcher.
"You wouldn't believe the transformation in this horse over the last three months and there is more to come from him. Someone is going to be very happy in another six months time as he will only go forward and improve again - he's a real trainers horse," said Sharkie.
Lot 701 a filly by Russian Revolution from the American Stakes winner Shakeira also has turned some heads.
"She's typical of the Russian Revolution stock that I've seen this season - mid-size but strong with a good gaskin and some depth. Given her pedigree I think she's well worth close attention, she could go early," said Sharkie.
Lot 782, a colt by Cable Bay x Catch A Thief has developed well and is a good bodied, strong sort of colt that could run as a 2YO before training on and improving a a 3YO.
Lot 707 is a filly by Magnus from the Stakes performer Shirl Pegasus and that mating has already produced multiple winners - this filly is typical of the Magnus breed and should be the next successful winner for the mating.
Lot 684 is a colt by Star Turn x Pura Vida and he looks like a strong unit that will be up and about early as a 2YO.
And Lot 760, a filly by Star Turn x Aunty Mo has big power and strength about her, she is a well grown filly that might take a little time before rewarding the patient buyer.
Leneva Park's Premier Sale draft is located in Barn E of the Oaklands Junction complex with the sale starting on Sunday February 28th.
